Caitlin Clark reminds us why she is a U19 Women’s World Cup MVP, two-time champion

MIES: Caitlin Clark seized the day and took over the headlines of the basketball world as she put on a historic performance in what might be one of her biggest games at this point of her young career.

The rising USA star made history by recording a first-ever 40-point triple-double in an NCAA tournament game, both men’s and women’s, propelling the Iowa Hawkeyes from the Elite Eight to the Final Four of this year’s NCAA Tournament.

Clark finished the game with 41 points on 11-19 shooting, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds to get her triple-double and the win for the Hawkeyes.

She has a knack for filling up the box scores and just plainly dominating on the court, which should come as no surprise to anyone that has been paying attention to how she played. In particular, it is those who have followed the recent FIBA U19 Women’s World Basketball Cups that will be quite familiar with what Clark is capable of.

That’s because Clark played in not only one but two, U19 Women’s World Basketball Cups with Team USA, and winning it all in both competitions. Standing out enough at a young age to make and win two U19 Women’s World Cups is already a strong enough resume, but Clark also takes it to another level as she was also named the TISSOT MVP of the recent U19 Women’s World Cup 2021 in Debrecen.

The 21-year-old guard might not have secured a triple-double in FIBA play yet (after already recording six in the NCAA), but she has come close many times.

At this rate that she is developing, improving, and balling out on the court, it seems like it won’t take too much time to wait for Clark to stamp in some historic performances in a FIBA competition soon whenever that opportunity comes. If you’re not convinced, here is nearly 10 full minutes of highlight plays by Clark at the U19 Women’s World Cup.
