National experts and sports icons unite at Jinnah Hospital’s Sports Medicine Symposium

LAHORE: A highly informative Sports Medicine Symposium was successfully organized by Orthopaedics Unit II of Jinnah Hospital Lahore, drawing participation from renowned sports personalities, medical professionals, and academics from across the country.

The event was highlighted by the special appearance of Pakistan’s celebrated Test cricketer Yasir Shah and Olympic wrestler Inam Butt, both of whom shared insights into the importance of injury prevention and athlete care.

Mr. Khalid Maqbool, Secretary General of the Pakistan Olympic Association, also graced the occasion. He commended the initiative, describing it as “a significant step toward enhancing health awareness and medical preparedness in the realm of sports.”

The symposium featured a series of engaging and interactive sessions on sports injury prevention and management, conducted by distinguished faculty members including Prof. Kamran Butt, Dr. Asad Abbas, Brig. Khalid Zulfiqar Qureshi, Dr. Muhammad Amir Sohail, and Dr. Hashim. Their expert presentations emphasized the role of modern orthopedic practices in sports medicine.

Prof. Tayyaba Wasim, Principal of Allama Iqbal Medical College, served as the chief guest. In her address, she applauded the organizers for arranging a high-quality training event and encouraged young doctors to uphold values of dedication, skill, and compassion in their medical careers.

Prof. Zafar Iqbal, Head of Orthopaedics Unit II, reaffirmed his commitment to continued academic excellence, stating, “We will persist in organizing such events to promote medical education and sports health awareness.”

Organizing committee members Dr. Muhammad Amir Sohail, Dr. Muhammad Akmal Zaib, and Ibad Ahmad Toor expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants, guests, and contributors for making the symposium a resounding success.

The event underscored the growing need for collaboration between sports professionals and medical experts to ensure the health, safety, and peak performance of athletes nationwide.
