Punjab Boxing Association merges into Sports Board Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab Boxing Association under former Asian boxer Abid Hussain and Sports Board Punjab have come down on one page in the development and organization of boxing events in the province.

Talking to media here at the conference room of the SBP, Abid revealed that as an organization they have got affiliated with the Sports Board and “we have agreed to work together for the cause of boxing in the province.”

He said he was grateful to SBP and Advisor to CM on Sports Wahab Riaz for their support in Punjab team preparation for the upcoming National Games.

He said: “The Trials to select the provincial team will be held soon in connection with the National Games to be held in Quetta.” President PBA

“We will be holding a provincial level boxing tournament to identify talented boxers in different weight categories and those bowers will be put in a short camp for further training for selection for the national games,” said the President PBA

Sharjeel Zia Secretary PBA and Tariq Gujjar informed that after the national games they will be conducting open championship.

“The National Games will be followed by the Punjab Open Boxing Championship and the player who would win gold medal for the first time will be awarded Rs 500,000 cash award,” said the Secretary PBA and he further added that Rs 200,000 will be given to the player who wins the silver and bronze medal.
