LAHORE: The Thai Rugby teams left Lahore yesterday after having completed a successful six-day Pakistan tour.
The guest team plays two 15 side test matches against Pakistan at Punjab Stadium Lahore. Pakistan Rugby Union President Arif Saeed and Secretary Salman Shaikh and other official`s good bye guests at Lahore Airport.
Meanwhile, Asian rugby officials president Qais Abdullah, Chief Executive Johny Stavrinou, Tournament Director Ghaith Jalajel, Media Manager Khurram Harron and other top officials of Asian Rugby also leave Pakistan.
Qais Abdullah said that it is great to see Pakistan Rugby Union hosting such a big event in very good manners. This is the first Asia rugby event after Covid and we are very happy with the arrangements of Pakistan “Pakistan’s historic victory against Thailand will help a lot in the speedy promotion of rugby among the younger generation of the country”, told by Asian Rugby President Qais Abdullah.
Pakistan lost the first game to Thailand by 20-15, but yesterday in the 2nd match, the Pakistan team came back very strongly and won the match by better points 24-18; so Pakistan won this series by 39-38 and qualified for the Asia rugby Div I for the first time in their playing history Thailand fought hard in this encounter, but it was Pakistan team, which emerged in the dying moments of the match.

President of the Pakistan Rugby Union, Arif Saeed thanks all the officials of Asia Rugby and congratulates Pakistan’s team who really worked hard to come back from behind and win this mega event. 16 years ago, Pakistan lost against Thailand in Lahore by 44-0. This was a huge win for Pakistan.
Pakistan Rugby Union Secretary thanks Servis Tyers and Sports board Punjab on very Well Corporation to host such a big event. He also thanked DG Sports board Punjab Javed Chohan, Servis Tyres team and management. The match was witnessed and enjoyed by a large crowd including families and children.
